The Nanjing Olympic Museum

In July 2014 The Nanjing Olympic Museum opened to the public. Centre Screen were asked to produce a large scale multi-user interactive that included 33 voiced and subtitled films in Chinese and English. The programme, Games In History, looks at the social and political events that surrounded each of the Games from 1896 to the more recent London and Sochi Games.

Working alongside the client team, including local technicians, interpreters and our hardware partners on the project, Electrosonic, we were on-site for four days to direct the installation of the software. We had to complete the conversion of the 33 films to Chinese in just over a month from initial site visit to install. One of the exciting highlights of this project was having the opportunity to meet the IOC President Thomas Bach and Vice President of China Li Yuanchao at the official opening of the museum.

The new museum has proved a huge success in the short time it has been open and our exhibit has been well received. Michelle Feng, Deputy Director of the Collection Centre says, “the exhibit has received a lot of praise from visitors’, further describing it as both ‘informative and creative’.
